Understanding DBDOC errors

When a project is successfully built, errors are identified by DBDOC.

Most of these errors can be viewed in Hyperview with the error browser. The error browser can open the documents relevant to a particular error, display extra information about the error type, and track which errors have already been reviewed. It may be helpful to sort these errors by severity. More information about these errors and other helpful files is available in Build Reports Help.

For assistance understanding your build reports, please send an error.7z file to GMCL as described below.

Sending an error.7z file for analysis

After completing a new build, you can email us your zipped files - we'll interpret the files and let you know if DBDOC has identified any potential problems in your system. Since we are constantly refining and expanding DBDOC's error checking capabilities, we strongly encourage our clients to send us a file at least once a year. The latest DBDOC can detect system issues undetectable with earlier versions, and not checked by ABB tools.

After a build, launch BuildPlus, and follow the following steps:

Choosing to automatically generate an error.7z file (Creating a compressed file of error/debug files)

On the Tools menu, click Create Compressed File of Error/Debug Files

This creates a compressed archive which contains some of the files generated by BuildPlus, such as error logs and configuration files. A complete listing of all the files included in the error.7z can be found in ZIP.TXT. Both these files are created in the ERROR_FILES folder in your project folder, which will open automatically once the files are created.

The error.7z file can be sent to GMCL (support@gmcl.com) for an analysis of the build.

(Note that error.7z is replacing error.tgz as of DBDOC version 10.6)
