Installing the DBDOC build system

Use the DBDOC build system to create a snapshot of your system that you can view in Hyperview, the DBDOC browser. To install the DBDOC build system

  1. Choose a DBDOC build computer. This computer should run a supported operating system. For information about how increasing your computer's speed and memory will affect build times, see DBDOC build system hardware performance requirements.
Information-noshadow.png Note: The last fully supported update for Windows 2000 was version 10.4. If you need to run DBDOC on Windows 2000, please contact us for support.
  2. If your computer has a previous DBDOC or CIUMon installation, see Updating your DBDOC installation.
  3. Log on with an administrator account.
  4. Insert the DBDOC DVD and run the installation wizard.
Information-noshadow.png Note: You can also find the Full DBDOC Install kit DBDOC_kit.exe in the system32\DIST folder of the DBDOC Installation DVD. You can also contact us to download the Full DBDOC Install kit, or if you have any questions.
  5. Enter the password on the back of your DBDOC DVD case to begin the installation.
Information-noshadow.png Note: You will need to restart your computer to complete the installation.

Information-noshadow.png Note: This procedure performs a full DBDOC install. You do not need to install the Hyperview browser or CIUMon online data server separately in order to use these programs on the DBDOC build computer.

If anything goes wrong with the installation, check for install.log in your user's Documents folder in a "dbdoc" subfolder, or in the root of the installation path, and contact GMCL with those logs and a report of what appeared to go wrong.

You will need administrator privileges to install the DBDOC build system this way. You do not need administrator privileges to run the DBDOC build system, but you do need either a USB security dongle or a software key.
